Doom vs Pudge

How this matchup plays

Slowing down Doom's farm is a big part of this matchup. Pudge creates pressure around the map from early on, forcing Doom to play more carefully instead of freely using Devour in the jungle. In fights, Pudge's whole kit can be a problem. A well-timed Meat Hook can pull an ally to safety right after they've been targeted by Doom's ultimate, completely wasting the long cooldown. Even if Doom tries to focus Pudge himself, the bonus health from Flesh Heap makes him a difficult target to burst down, often buying enough time for his team to turn the fight around.

As the game progresses, Doom’s impact often hinges on finding that one perfect ultimate to start a fight. Pudge’s presence forces a difficult choice: either use Doom on a less important hero, or risk using it on a priority target only to have them hooked away from danger. This can make teamfights feel awkward and hesitant. The best play for Doom is to be patient and try to initiate after Meat Hook has been used, or catch Pudge himself out of position. It forces Doom to play reactively, which can give Pudge’s team the upper hand in controlling the tempo.
