Doom vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Casting Doom on Wraith King feels awful because his ultimate, Reincarnation, purges it when he dies. A core part of Doom's game plan is to isolate and remove one hero from a fight, but against Wraith King, this plan fails completely. The spell is meant to be a death sentence, but for WK, it's a minor delay before he comes back to life at full strength. This forces the Doom player to find a different target, but that often means ignoring the most threatening hero on the enemy team.

This core interaction gives Wraith King a huge amount of freedom. He can stand on the front lines and hit buildings or heroes without fearing the enemy's biggest single-target disable. The Doom is put in a terrible position of having to either waste his long-cooldown ultimate or let the enemy carry run his team over. This dynamic makes it very difficult for Doom to execute his job, forcing his team to play around a hero whose main strength has been nullified before the fight even begins.
