Doom vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Getting hit with a silence and magic amplification from Ancient Seal makes it difficult for Doom to do his job. Skywrath Mage can often stay far enough away to apply pressure without putting himself at risk. Doom wants to run at a key target and use his ultimate, but Skywrath's constant stream of long-range magic damage can soften him up or force him to retreat before he gets in range. The threat of a Mystic Flare also means Doom can’t simply stand his ground and has to respect Skywrath's positioning.

The matchup becomes a game of vision and initiation. Skywrath Mage has the upper hand in prolonged trades where he can maintain distance, but Doom can completely turn the tables if he gets a clean jump. Once Doom secures an item like a Blink Dagger or a Black King Bar, finding and deleting Skywrath becomes much easier. The advantage is conditional; it relies on Skywrath playing a careful positioning game and Doom failing to find the right opening to close the distance and land his ultimate.
