Doom vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Struggling to pin down a split-pushing Slark can be a real headache. Doom wants to use his ultimate to shut down a key target and create a numbers advantage, but Slark's kit makes him a frustrating target. Dark Pact can purge away slows and other setup debuffs, and Shadow Dance provides an escape or a way to dodge the ultimate's cast altogether. This forces Doom to have perfect initiation, often with help, to guarantee his spell is not wasted on a target that simply slips away.

Throughout the game, this creates a difficult choice for Doom. Using his ultimate on Slark is often the correct strategic move, but the risk of it being dodged or the fishy hero surviving the duration is high. If Doom uses it on a different enemy, he leaves Slark free to build Essence Shift stacks and clean up the fight. Slark's goal is to force this dilemma, being a constant nuisance until Doom commits his long cooldown. Doom's team needs to chain stuns perfectly to lock Slark down before the ultimate is even cast, removing any chance for him to react.
