Dragon Knight vs Drow Ranger

How this matchup plays

Closing the distance on Drow Ranger is the entire game plan for a Dragon Knight. He has a reliable stun with Dragon Tail and, once he gets a Blink Dagger, can jump from the fog and lock her down. His natural tankiness also means he can often survive her initial volley of attacks. However, Drow Ranger has the perfect answer in Gust. A well-timed silence and knockback can completely negate DK's initiation, giving her the space she needs to kite him with Frost Arrows. The fight is often decided before it even begins, based purely on who gets the drop on the other.

This dynamic makes the mid-game incredibly tense. Dragon Knight will be hunting for pickoffs, trying to snowball his team's lead by repeatedly killing Drow Ranger. Drow’s team, in response, has to play around her with good vision and defensive items to save her from the stun. As the game goes later, Drow's Marksmanship damage can become overwhelming, but she remains vulnerable to being caught out. The outcome really hinges on execution and teamwork; a successful jump from DK wins the fight, but a good save or pre-emptive Gust wins it for Drow's side.
