Dragon Knight vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Losing towers early is the core of this matchup. Dragon Knight wants to activate his ultimate and apply pressure to buildings, but Shadow Shaman has multiple instant, long-duration disables to stop this plan. A single Hex or Shackle is more than enough to lock DK down, preventing him from attacking or retreating while the rest of Shaman's team collapses. Even with a farmed Dragon Knight, the sheer lockdown potential from Shaman can easily turn a tower push into a free kill, completely negating DK's main purpose in the mid-game.

This forces Dragon Knight to play reactively for most of the game. He needs a Black King Bar to even think about fighting, but the time it takes to farm it is time Shadow Shaman uses to secure kills and take objectives with Mass Serpent Ward. Even after DK gets his BKB, Shaman can often wait out the duration or simply use Shackles to hold him in place once it expires. This constant threat makes it difficult for Dragon Knight to find his footing and create the map pressure he needs to be effective.
