How this matchup plays

Picking Drow Ranger into a Clockwerk creates a classic hunter-and-hunted dynamic. Clockwerk’s entire purpose is to find an isolated target and trap them, and Drow is often that target. A successful Hookshot followed by Power Cogs is usually a death sentence. Being so close disables Drow Ranger's Marksmanship, and the constant mini-stuns from Battery Assault will stop her from fighting back or using items. Drow’s main defense is a well-timed Gust to push Clockwerk away and silence him, but this requires sharp reflexes and good positioning before he can even launch the hook.

This tension defines the game. Clockwerk will spend the mid-game scouring the map for a pickoff, using Rocket Flare for vision. In response, a smart Drow player will never show in a lane alone and rushes a Force Staff or Hurricane Pike to create distance. Fights often come down to a single moment: if Clockwerk gets the jump and his team follows up, Drow dies instantly. If he misses his Hookshot, or if Drow’s team is positioned to save her, Clockwerk is left stranded and vulnerable, and Drow can shred his team from the back lines.
