Earth Spirit vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Committing your full combo as Earth Spirit to secure a pick-off feels awful when the target is Wraith King. All of your control and damage is spent to pop his first life, and then he stands back up with Reincarnation, ready to fight. Earth Spirit relies on using his spells in a precise sequence to lock down and burst one hero, creating an advantage for his team. Against Wraith King, that entire effort is negated. Worse, after using Rolling Boulder to initiate, you're often left in a bad position with your key spells on cooldown while a revived King and his team turn on you.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Earth Spirit is forced to ignore Wraith King in fights and try to catch his supports, but that’s often difficult when a farmed carry is running at your team. A good Wraith King will position himself to be the natural target for your initiation, effectively baiting your long cooldowns. While you're busy trying to kite skeletons and find a new target, Wraith King is free to hit your cores. Earth Spirit wants to start a clean, controlled fight with a man advantage, and Wraith King ensures the fight is messy from the start.
