Slowing down the map and securing farm is where Techies finds an opening in this matchup. Earth Spirit relies on Rolling Boulder to get around and start fights, but common rotation paths become incredibly risky against Proximity Mines. This forces Earth Spirit to either play slower and cede map pressure, or risk taking heavy damage before a gank even begins. Even if he manages to close the distance, Techies can use Reactive Tazer to disarm him at a key moment, or use the silence from Blast Off to interrupt his combo and escape.

As the game progresses, this dynamic centers on objective control. Techies can make pushing high ground or contesting Roshan a nightmare, forcing Earth Spirit's team to spend significant resources on detection. The counterplay for Earth Spirit is to play patiently, using vision to spot and avoid mine stacks. He can also use Boulder Smash on a creep or remnant to clear mines from a safe distance. Since Techies is so fragile, a successful smoke gank can completely shut down his defensive setup, which is why the advantage here isn't more pronounced.
