Earth Spirit vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Trying to run at a target as Ursa can feel frustrating when an Earth Spirit is nearby. Earth Spirit’s entire kit is built around controlling hero positions, which directly interferes with Ursa's need to stay on top of a single enemy to build up Fury Swipes damage. A well-timed Boulder Smash pushes Ursa away, breaking his assault. A Geomagnetic Grip can silence him, preventing a crucial Enrage to purge slows or survive burst. Even Rolling Boulder gives Earth Spirit himself an escape, forcing Ursa to expend more resources for a kill that might not even happen.

This dynamic means Ursa often has to play more cautiously. He can’t simply charge in if Earth Spirit has his spells ready. Ursa is forced to either wait for those spells to be used on someone else or buy a Black King Bar sooner than he might like. For his part, Earth Spirit needs to hold his spells to counter the Ursa's aggression, which can sometimes leave his own team vulnerable to other threats. If Ursa gets the jump, especially with an Abyssal Blade, Earth Spirit still dies quickly. It's a matchup of cooldowns and positioning.
