Earthshaker vs Enigma

How this matchup plays

Canceling Black Hole from long range is the main reason Earthshaker often has an easier time. A well-placed Fissure can interrupt Enigma's ultimate from outside the spell's radius, often before it accomplishes much. This forces Enigma to play with a lot more respect. Beyond the direct counter, Echo Slam is a solid answer to the swarm of Eidolons and any heroes clumped for the initiation, punishing the entire setup. This interaction is funny because the two heroes often feel like they're competing for the same kind of game-winning stun, making them awkward allies.

This creates a tense cat-and-mouse game. Enigma needs to either find and kill Earthshaker first with a Blink Dagger or bait out Fissure before committing Black Hole. A patient Earthshaker can lurk on the edges of a teamfight, holding his key spell and forcing Enigma to hesitate. The advantage isn't absolute; a successful jump on an out-of-position Shaker still wins the fight for Enigma's team. But the constant threat of a long-range cancel is usually enough to tilt the engagement in Shaker's favor.
