Earthshaker vs Lich

How this matchup plays

Trying to find a multi-hero Echo Slam can be frustrating against a Lich. His whole kit is designed to slow things down and punish clumping. A pre-emptive Frost Shield on Earthshaker's likely target reduces the burst damage and slows him on follow-up, often giving the core enough time to escape the stun lock. Even if Earthshaker lands a perfect Fissure, the target is harder to finish off. Furthermore, Lich's Chain Frost thrives in the exact same situations that Earthshaker wants to create, turning a good setup for one hero into a potential disaster for his own team.

Across the game, this dynamic forces Earthshaker to play more carefully. He can’t simply blink into the middle of a fight and expect a clean kill. Lich's job is to stay back, keep his carry alive with Frost Shield, and use his slows to create distance when Earthshaker commits. For the Earthshaker player, this means prioritizing vision control and attacking from the fog of war to get a jump before Lich can react. It's a slight edge for Lich because he has the right tools, but a well-executed initiation can still blow him up before he gets to use them.
