Earthshaker vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Phantom Assassin can feel impossible, but Earthshaker has the tools to do it. His value comes from chain-stunning targets, and a well-placed Fissure can stop PA in her tracks, setting her up to be killed by his team. Echo Slam also deals a huge amount of magic damage, which bypasses her Blur evasion entirely. On the other hand, Phantom Assassin’s mobility from Phantom Strike allows her to pick her engagements, and she can often get away before Earthshaker can get in range to start his full combo. The dynamic creates a tense standoff where both heroes respect the other's kill potential.

The matchup really pivots on item timings. If Earthshaker gets a Blink Dagger first, he can initiate from fog and lock down the Phantom Assassin before she can react. If PA gets her Black King Bar first, the situation reverses. She can activate it, jump on Earthshaker, and he becomes helpless against her physical damage until his team can bail him out. Because of this, fights often depend on who gets the jump and whether key cooldowns are available. Both heroes want to initiate on their own terms, leading to a balanced cat-and-mouse game throughout the mid-game.
