Earthshaker vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Blinking into the enemy team as Earthshaker is a real test of nerve when Pugna is on the other side. A well-placed Nether Ward makes chaining spells for a big Echo Slam a potential suicide mission, as the mana cost translates directly into damage against Earthshaker himself. This forces him to hesitate. On the flip side, Pugna is fragile and has no mobility. A clean initiation from the fog will almost always delete him before he can react or get his own spells off. Decrepify might save an ally from follow-up attacks, but it can't stop the initial magical burst from an Echo Slam combo.

This dynamic creates a constant battle over vision and positioning. Earthshaker is always scanning the map for a chance to catch Pugna moving between objectives, while Pugna tries to stay deep in his team's formation, placing his Ward defensively before a fight begins. The entire engagement can swing based on who acts first: if Earthshaker finds Pugna, his teamfight is unlocked. If Pugna sets his trap first, Earthshaker's primary value is neutralized. It's a standoff where neither hero has a reliable advantage.
