How this matchup plays

Using Mass Serpent Ward against an Earthshaker is a calculated risk. The wards give Echo Slam a massive damage boost, potentially turning an entire fight if Earthshaker can find his moment after they're placed. On the other hand, Shadow Shaman has the tools to prevent this from happening. An instant Hex can stop a blinking Earthshaker in his tracks, and Shackles is a long-duration disable that can hold him down to be focused and killed before he gets his spells off. This creates a tense dynamic where both heroes are baiting out the other's most important cooldown.

The game often becomes about which hero dictates the pace. Earthshaker wants to stay off the map, waiting for Shadow Shaman to commit his wards to a push and create the perfect setup. Shadow Shaman's goal is to be proactive, using his disables to secure pickoffs that delay Earthshaker's critical Blink Dagger timing.
