Earthshaker vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

The core of this matchup revolves around vision and positioning. Sniper's extreme attack range lets him stay far outside of Earthshaker's typical initiation range, while Shrapnel provides vision that can spoil a smoke gank or a hidden approach. This makes it incredibly difficult for Earthshaker to land a multi-hero Echo Slam without getting seen first. He's forced to rely on his team to create a distraction or for the Sniper to make a serious positioning error. A long-range Fissure can sometimes be enough to start a fight, but it's not the reliable teamfight-winning spell that a Blink-Echo combo is.

This dynamic often allows Sniper's team to control the game's pace. They can pressure towers and take objectives with Sniper chipping away from safety. Earthshaker is put in a tough spot, forced to either show himself to defend and risk getting picked off, or cede map control entirely. This can significantly slow down his item progression, delaying the critical Blink Dagger he needs to overcome his positional disadvantage. Until he gets that item and a good opportunity, Earthshaker often feels like he's playing from behind, waiting for one perfect moment to turn a fight.
