Earthshaker vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Spectre with a full combo often ends badly for Earthshaker. All that magic and physical damage from Echo Slam and Enchant Totem gets partially reflected by Dispersion, punishing Earthshaker and any allies nearby. Spectre is already a durable hero who likes to build a lot of health, so she frequently survives the initial lockdown anyway. Her ability to simply walk through Fissure with Spectral Dagger also means she's difficult to pin down, even after the initial stun wears off.

Across a game, this means Earthshaker’s main job of initiating on a key hero is unreliable against Spectre. A Blink-Echo on her is a huge risk. As Spectre gets her core items, she stops being a target for Earthshaker and instead starts hunting him. Using Haunt, she can find and kill an isolated Earthshaker who is trying to set up a gank, completely reversing the tempo of the game. Earthshaker is forced to play much more defensively, waiting for Spectre to commit to someone else before he can safely use his spells.
