Earthshaker vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

A well-placed Fissure is often enough to stop Windranger mid-Windrun, providing the reliable lockdown needed to catch the elusive hero. Earthshaker's ability to chain stuns with Aftershock means that if the first spell lands, Windranger is unlikely to get away. Her entire defensive plan revolves around being difficult to hit with attacks, which does very little against Earthshaker's spell-based burst and control. While she can try to get a pickoff with Shackleshot, his initiation is far more direct and doesn't rely on finding the right angle.

The matchup typically hinges on Earthshaker acquiring a Blink Dagger. Until then, Windranger can often dictate the pace with her range and harassment. Once he can initiate from fog, however, her aggressive positioning becomes a serious risk. Pushing a lane or standing near a creep wave makes her a prime target for a lethal Echo Slam. Her game becomes about careful positioning and vision control, while Earthshaker's is about finding that one clean jump. A failed initiation can get him kited and killed, which keeps this from being a truly dominant matchup.
