Ember Spirit vs Keeper of the Light

How this matchup plays

Jumping on a core as Ember Spirit is often less clean when Keeper of the Light is on the enemy team. A well-timed Blinding Light can knock Ember back the moment he arrives, breaking his Searing Chains attempt and giving his target time to escape. The ability also applies a miss chance, which can weaken the follow-up from Sleight of Fist. In teamfights, Will-o-Wisp presents a similar problem by creating a large zone of control that severely limits where Ember can safely use his Fire Remnants to maneuver and deal damage.

This dynamic means Ember Spirit has to be more selective with his aggression. He might need to target Keeper of the Light first, which can be difficult, or wait for Blinding Light to be used on someone else before committing to a kill. Keeper of the Light also tends to keep lanes pushed out with Illuminate, reducing the opportunities for Ember to find ganks in the first place. The matchup isn't impossible, though; Ember can still blow up the fragile Keeper if he catches him alone, but the constant threat of disruption gives KotL a slight, consistent advantage.
