Ember Spirit vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Losing map control happens fast when a Legion Commander is hunting you. Ember Spirit relies on escaping almost any situation with Fire Remnant, but Legion's Duel is one of the few abilities that completely ignores this. Once cast, Ember is locked in place for its duration, unable to zip away. This turns his main strength into a liability. Furthermore, Legion Commander can easily shrug off Searing Chains with Press the Attack, making it very difficult for Ember to get the upper hand if she decides to commit. She can walk at him, confident that her lockdown is absolute.

This dynamic forces Ember Spirit to play an uncharacteristically safe game after the laning stage. He can’t split the map and apply pressure nearly as effectively, because a solo Duel is always a threat. Legion Commander, on the other hand, can use Ember as a reliable source of Duel damage, accelerating her own threat level. Ember's team is then forced to react, either by clumping together to protect him or by investing in items like Linken's Sphere. It puts Legion's team in the driver's seat for the mid-game, letting them dictate the pace.
