Ember Spirit vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Picking Ember Spirit into a potential Necrophos is a serious risk. Ember wants to wear enemies down with sustained physical and magical damage, but Necrophos’s kit directly dismantles that plan. Heartstopper Aura constantly drains Ember’s health, making it difficult for him to stay in fights or even lane effectively. When Ember commits with Sleight of Fist, a well-timed Ghost Shroud can completely negate the physical damage portion of his assault, leaving him exposed. It's a fundamental mismatch in how the two heroes want to trade blows.

This dynamic forces the Ember player into a reactive game. He can't reliably jump supports because the threat of Reaper's Scythe punishes any low-health escape attempt with a guaranteed kill. As a result, Ember often has to buy items he normally wouldn't, like a Spirit Vessel or an early defensive item, simply to have a chance. Necrophos, on the other hand, can typically build his core items and continue to apply pressure, knowing that one of the enemy's main damage dealers is severely limited in how he can engage.
