Catching an Ember Spirit often depends on instant lockdown, which is exactly what Slardar brings. Corrosive Haze provides vision and armor reduction, making it much harder for Ember to escape with Fire Remnant once he's caught. A successful Slithereen Crush can be a death sentence, allowing Slardar to apply his bash and finish the kill.
