Ember Spirit vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other is a bet on reaction time. Spirit Breaker has the ideal tool for catching an elusive target: Charge of Darkness is a global, point-and-click stun. It lets him and his team collapse on Ember Spirit from anywhere. The issue is that a prepared Ember has several ways to answer. He can dodge the Charge impact with Sleight of Fist, nullifying the gank and leaving Spirit Breaker exposed. He can also use Searing Chains to stop the Charge before it connects, or simply escape with a Fire Remnant even after being stunned.

Throughout the game, this dynamic creates a constant threat. In the early and mid-game, Ember Spirit has to play with extreme discipline, always keeping an escape Remnant available and his finger on Sleight of Fist. If he gets caught without those tools, he’s an easy kill. As the game progresses, however, Ember's defensive items and lower cooldowns can make him incredibly difficult to lock down. A successful gank requires Spirit Breaker’s team to follow up instantly, while a successful escape requires Ember’s team to be ready to punish the overextended initiator.
