Picking an Ember Spirit into an enemy Techies is a risky move that forces a reactive playstyle from the very start. Ember relies on Flame Guard to farm and absorb magical damage in fights, but a single Proximity Mine from Techies has enough damage to instantly destroy the shield, leaving him vulnerable. Worse, Ember's core escape plan with Fire Remnant is completely negated if Techies lands a Blast Off!, as the silence prevents him from zipping away. Techies systematically strips away Ember Spirit's key defensive and evasive tools, making him an easy target.

This dynamic shapes the whole game. Ember can't safely split push or hunt for kills, because every patch of fog could hide a stack of mines. Pushing out lanes or moving between jungle camps becomes a massive risk without extensive vision control. This forces Ember's team to spend a lot of gold on sentry wards simply to create safe farming space for him. All the while, Techies is free to establish map control and set up deadly traps around key objectives, forcing the Ember player to wait for openings instead of creating them.
