Ember Spirit vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Picking a mobile core is a common way to handle a last-pick Ursa. Ember Spirit's kit is well-suited to denying Ursa the prolonged, close-range fight he needs to be effective. Searing Chains can root Ursa in place, creating the space needed to escape. Even if Ursa does close the distance with a Blink Dagger, a pre-placed Fire Remnant gives Ember a reliable way to get to safety. Ursa needs to land repeated attacks to build up his damage, and Ember is one of the hardest heroes to keep pinned down.

This dynamic means the pressure is on the Ursa player to execute a perfect gank. He usually needs to find Ember Spirit without a Remnant active and have an ally with a silence or another disable to prevent the escape. If that perfect storm doesn't happen, Ember can often survive the initial jump with Flame Guard and simply warp out. This allows Ember to apply pressure around the map with more confidence, knowing he isn't an easy kill for the enemy carry, forcing Ursa to hunt easier targets.
