Ember Spirit vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map with Ember Spirit involves constantly threatening different lanes and escaping with Fire Remnant. Vengeful Spirit disrupts this plan by having a targeted way to pin him down. A well-timed Nether Swap can pull Ember out of his Sleight of Fist or away from an escape remnant, landing him in the middle of Venge's team. Her follow-up stun offers a chance to secure the kill, but Ember's own reflexes and ability to dodge can still allow him to escape, making the lockdown attempt not always a guarantee.

This dynamic forces the Ember player to be more cautious. He can't split push as freely or jump on supports as aggressively if a Vengeful Spirit is alive with her ultimate available. His tempo slows down, and he creates less chaos for the enemy team. Success for Ember often means baiting the swap on a different hero or ensuring Venge is dealt with first. In turn, Vengeful Spirit may be forced to hold her most impactful spell waiting for Ember, which can sometimes make her less useful in other fights across the map.
