How this matchup plays

Picking Hoodwink to counter Enigma seems straightforward, but it's a real gamble. The squirrel has the tools to do the job; Sharpshooter can interrupt Black Hole from across the screen, and a quick Bushwhack can also cancel the channel. The issue is that neither of these is a guarantee. Bushwhack needs a tree, and Sharpshooter needs to be aimed and fired under immense pressure. On the flip side, if Enigma catches Hoodwink in his ultimate, she evaporates. She's a squishy hero trying to play chicken with one of the most punishing spells in the game, which gives Enigma a slight upper hand.

This dynamic creates a tense mid-game. Once Enigma has a Blink Dagger, he's actively hunting for an angle where Hoodwink isn't prepared. The Hoodwink player is forced to play from the absolute margins of a fight, hoping to stay safe enough to react. The game tilts further in Enigma's favor when he acquires a Black King Bar. This removes Bushwhack from the equation entirely, leaving only the high-stakes Sharpshooter skillshot as a possible answer. The pressure to land that one spell to stop a teamwipe is often what gives Enigma the space he needs to win.
