Enigma vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Catching the enemy carry seems like the perfect job for a Black Hole, but targeting Necrophos is a common mistake. Enigma players using spell immunity to channel a clean ultimate will find it gets canceled anyway, because Reaper's Scythe stuns through it. This interaction completely defines the matchup. Beyond the ultimates, Heartstopper Aura constantly chips away at Enigma's health pool, making it harder for him to find a safe position to initiate from. Even his Eidolons get worn down over time by the constant pressure.

This forces the entire game to revolve around Necrophos's cooldowns from Enigma's perspective. An Enigma can't confidently start a teamfight; he has to wait for Reaper's Scythe to be used on a teammate or hope his team can kill Necrophos before he can react. This reduces a huge teamfight initiator to a cleanup hero, which is much less effective. Meanwhile, Necrophos can play with confidence, knowing he holds a direct counter to his opponent's single most important spell and can often shut down the fight before it even begins.
