How this matchup plays

Slowing down Enigma's item progression is the main goal for Techies. Proximity Mines make it risky for Enigma to use Eidolons to farm neutral camps, which can severely delay a Blink Dagger. This forces Enigma into lanes more often, altering his typical game plan. In teamfights, Techies also presents a direct threat with Blast Off. The silence from that ability is a reliable, long-range tool for interrupting Black Hole, even if Techies himself isn't caught. This constant threat of cancellation often forces the entire fight to revolve around whether Black Hole can be completed.

The matchup becomes a game of cat-and-mouse over that ultimate. Enigma needs his team to provide vision and either jump on Techies first or force him to use Blast Off defensively before a fight. A Black King Bar is a crucial purchase for Enigma, as it allows him to ignore the silence. On the other side, the Techies player will try to stay hidden on the fringes of the fight, waiting for the perfect moment to interrupt.
