Enigma vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Picking Enigma often forces the opponent to find a reliable way to stop Black Hole, and Tidehunter is a classic answer. His Ravage provides a massive area-of-effect stun that can interrupt the channel from a safe distance. While Ravage isn't instant and requires good timing, a Tidehunter's entire game plan revolves around being in position to use it effectively. Since Enigma also wants to use his ultimate at the start of a fight, Tidehunter is naturally prepared to counter him without having to drastically alter his own strategy.

This creates a tense standoff in teamfights. The Enigma player is forced to play with more patience, trying to bait out Ravage early or find a flank that catches Tidehunter out of position. A successful gank on Tidehunter before a major fight can completely open up the map. Conversely, the Tidehunter player can often control the engagement by simply holding his ultimate and shadowing Enigma's likely positions. The burden of initiation falls on Enigma to find a perfect opening against a hero well-equipped to deny it.
