Faceless Void vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

Catching an Invoker inside Chronosphere leaves him unable to cast any of his defensive spells. He can't use Tornado to save himself or Ghost Walk to escape, which makes him a prime target for Faceless Void and his team. This interaction is the direct opposite of how they work together, where Chronosphere provides the ideal setup for Invoker's combos. Furthermore, Void’s Time Walk can undo the damage from a well-placed Sun Strike or Meteor, making it harder for Invoker to win trades or secure kills from a distance.

The entire matchup often becomes a game of positioning around Chronosphere's cooldown. A smart Invoker will play on the fringes of teamfights, trying to stay out of Void's initiation range while still contributing with his spells. Faceless Void, meanwhile, is always looking for an opportunity to find and trap the Invoker. A successful ultimate on Invoker can remove his team's main source of control and damage from a fight, and it’s this fight-winning potential that gives Void a slight advantage, even if Invoker has more tools to play with for the rest of the game.
