Faceless Void vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Faceless Void requires instant control, and Lion provides that. His Hex is the perfect tool, preventing Void from using Time Walk to escape or casting Chronosphere to initiate. Before Void gets key items, Lion can also be a nuisance with Mana Drain, keeping Void’s mana low and making him vulnerable. The dynamic flips, however, if Void gets the jump. A Chronosphere that catches Lion means he has no way to respond and will die immediately due to his low health pool. It’s a pure test of who acts first.

This tension defines the game at all stages. Early on, Faceless Void has to be careful about Lion's pressure. Later, teamfights revolve around this specific interaction. Void's team wants to set up vision to find Lion before he can react. Lion’s team plays around him staying far back, waiting for Void to show himself. If Lion can survive the initial Chronosphere, his ability to Hex Void as it ends can swing a fight and secure a kill on their carry. The game is often decided by which of them gets caught first.
