Faceless Void vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Picking Magnus into an enemy Faceless Void creates a fundamental conflict between their ultimates. Both heroes want to land a game-winning area-of-effect disable, but Chronosphere is a hard answer to Reverse Polarity. If Magnus blinks in for an RP, Faceless Void can trap him and his gathered targets. This freezes Magnus in place, preventing any Skewer follow-up and leaving him completely exposed. The very reason these two heroes fail when played on the same team—their ultimates clashing—is exactly what makes Void so effective at shutting Magnus down.

This interaction forces the Magnus player into a difficult position all game. He has to either catch Faceless Void in the initial Reverse Polarity and hope his team can burst him instantly, or wait for Chronosphere to be used first, which might never happen. The pressure is entirely on Magnus to find a perfect opening. Faceless Void can play more reactively, holding his ultimate as a trump card that nullifies the enemy's biggest teamfight threat. Even if Void gets caught, Time Walk often gives him enough survivability to withstand the initial burst and turn the fight.
