Faceless Void vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Picking Rubick into a Faceless Void is a bet on stealing Chronosphere. The play can turn a fight completely, giving your team a second massive teamfight ultimate. The problem is execution. To get the steal, Rubick has to stand right at the edge of the ability, which is exactly where Void's team is looking to kill people. A small positioning error means Rubick gets caught and dies with nothing to show for it. While Telekinesis offers a more reliable way to control Faceless Void, it doesn't have the same game-winning potential as a stolen Chronosphere.

This creates a duel of positioning across the entire game. The Faceless Void player is actively hunting Rubick, trying to initiate directly on him to remove the Spell Steal threat before it matters. In response, the Rubick has to play from the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to either lift Void or snatch the ultimate. Whichever player better predicts the other's movement and position often determines the outcome of a key fight. It’s a matchup where a single misstep on either side can decide everything.
