How this matchup plays

Thinking Soulbind is the direct answer to Lifestealer is a common trap. A good Lifestealer will always save Rage to instantly dispel it and ignore the rest of Grimstroke’s slows and stuns. The real threat is when Grimstroke uses Soulbind on Lifestealer's ally instead. Any single-target stun on that tethered ally will lock down Lifestealer too, completely bypassing his magic immunity. This turns the dynamic on its head, forcing Lifestealer to worry about his partner's positioning as much as his own, while Grimstroke needs to find the right pair to chain together.

Fights often hinge on this cooldown game. Lifestealer wins by anticipating Grimstroke's spells, popping Rage, and running straight at the back line to kill him before he can get a second rotation off. Grimstroke wins by holding his ultimate, waiting for Lifestealer to commit to a fight, and then punishing him or his dive partner. It’s a classic battle of initiation versus counter-initiation where a single misstep or a wasted cooldown by either hero can decide the engagement.
