Lifestealer is a spell-immune carry whose Rage shrugs off magic, Feast sustains him through any fight, and Infest lets him ambush from an ally. He feasts on magic-damage heroes his Rage ignores: Mars, Timbersaw and Tinker can't burn down his lifesteal. He's countered by physical lockdown and break: Slardar shreds his armor and stuns through Rage, while Lone Druid, Riki and Meepo out-trade his right-clicks. Lifestealer synergies
Lifestealer's Infest is one of the best initiation tools in the game — he hides inside a tanky ally, then bursts out onto the enemy backline. He pairs best with front-line divers and lockdown: Axe is the iconic combo (Infest into a Blink-Call for a guaranteed gank), while Dawnbreaker and Tidehunter carry him into the fight and lock the enemy down. Phoenix provides AoE while he chews through the front line. Give Lifestealer a durable initiator to Infest and he becomes an unkillable surprise attacker.
