Grimstroke vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Soulbind is a huge problem for Lion. If he's leashed to a core, any single-target stun or nuke aimed at his ally hits him too. This turns Lion's ideal position—standing behind a carry to offer protection—into a massive liability. Grimstroke can also use Phantom's Embrace to silence Lion, preventing him from getting off a crucial Hex or Earth Spike. That phantom has to be dealt with, which wastes time and attention that Lion's team often can't spare in a chaotic fight.

Still, this matchup leans only slightly in Grimstroke's favor because Lion has the tools to get the jump first. Lion's disables are instant, while Grimstroke's spells have cast points and travel times. A well-timed Hex can interrupt Soulbind or Ink Swell and turn the engagement around completely. The game becomes a duel of positioning and initiation. Lion looks for pickoffs on a solo Grimstroke before a fight breaks out, while Grimstroke plays from the fog, waiting for the perfect moment to land his ultimate and neutralize Lion's ability to contribute.
