Gyrocopter vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Drafting a Gyrocopter against an enemy Legion Commander is a massive risk. Gyrocopter is a naturally low-health hero who can't stand and fight one-on-one, making him an ideal target for Duel. Legion Commander's Press the Attack also provides a basic dispel, easily removing the slow from Call Down if she gets caught in it. Worse yet, Legion Commander's typical item build includes Blade Mail, which reflects all of Gyrocopter's high-instance damage from Rocket Barrage and Flak Cannon right back at him. It’s hard for Gyro to win a Duel when his own spells are killing him.

This dynamic forces the Gyrocopter player onto the back foot as soon as Legion Commander gets her ultimate. He can’t farm aggressively or show in lanes alone. Legion Commander will typically buy a Blink Dagger and then spend the mid-game actively hunting Gyro to build up Duel damage. The Gyro player is forced to buy defensive items like a Linken's Sphere or rely entirely on his teammates for saves, which slows down his own power curve. A few successful Duels for LC can snowball the game completely out of reach.
