Gyrocopter vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Trying to trade hits in the mid lane puts Gyrocopter in a terrible position. His relatively short attack range and the need to get close for Rocket Barrage means he’s always inside the perfect distance for Shadow Fiend to land multiple Shadowrazes. This allows Shadow Fiend to easily build up souls for bonus damage, making it impossible for Gyrocopter to contest last hits or stay in the lane safely. The fundamental kits of the two heroes create a power imbalance right from the start, as one hero's primary damage spell requires him to stand in the exact spot the other wants him.

This early advantage lets Shadow Fiend accelerate his farm and hit his item timings much faster. A farmed Shadow Fiend can dictate the pace of the mid-game, looking for pickoffs on squishy targets like Gyrocopter. Before Gyro can get key defensive items online, he’s a prime target for a Requiem of Souls combo. This forces the Gyrocopter player into a reactive and defensive game, trying to avoid the enemy midlaner instead of creating pressure. Gyro is left scrambling to survive and farm, while Shadow Fiend leverages his lead to control the map.
