Gyrocopter vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Seeing an Ogre Magi on the other team makes picking Gyrocopter a real liability. Gyrocopter's whole early game plan revolves around getting close and bursting someone with Rocket Barrage. Ogre Magi, with his massive health pool and armor from level one, can often absorb the full duration of that spell and still be standing. Once the rockets are done, Ogre simply lands a Fireblast, and the fragile Gyrocopter is now the one in lethal danger with no way to escape. The fundamental trade is completely flipped on its head.

This dynamic only gets worse for Gyrocopter as the game progresses. In teamfights, Gyro wants to use Flak Cannon from a safe distance, but Ogre Magi’s job is to run at the backline. He can tank the initial Call Down, and a multi-cast stun from Fireblast is often enough to lock Gyrocopter down for a kill before he can get his damage off or use defensive items. Gyro is forced to play reactively against Ogre all game, constantly fearing the lockdown that shuts down his entire kit.
