Gyrocopter vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Picking Gyrocopter into a Wraith King often feels like a mistake from the start. The core of the problem is that Gyrocopter relies on unloading a massive amount of mixed damage with Rocket Barrage and Call Down to secure a kill. He wants to burst a target and remove them from the fight immediately. Wraith King’s Reincarnation completely invalidates this game plan. He can absorb Gyrocopter’s entire offensive output, die, and then come back with full mana to stun and kill the now-vulnerable gyro who has all his spells on cooldown. Gyrocopter simply lacks the tools to handle a hero that requires being killed twice in rapid succession.

This dynamic forces Gyrocopter into an impossible position during teamfights. He either has to waste his full combo on Wraith King for no real gain, or he must try to maneuver around the durable king to hit softer targets, which is difficult as WK is usually right on the frontline. Wraith King's plan is much simpler: he walks straight at Gyrocopter, knowing he can survive the initial assault. For the matchup to be playable, Gyrocopter’s team has to commit significant resources to kiting or controlling WK after he reincarnates, a burden many drafts can’t handle.
