Gyrocopter vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

Getting run at by a Slardar is a death sentence for Gyrocopter. Slardar's entire kit is designed to punish heroes who can't get away. Guardian Sprint lets him easily close the distance, and once he's on top, Slithereen Crush provides a long enough stun to guarantee he can apply Corrosive Haze. The massive armor reduction from Haze makes Gyrocopter incredibly fragile to Slardar's physical attacks. Gyrocopter has no built-in escape mechanism and relies on kiting, something Slardar's speed and lockdown completely deny. Even Gyro's early magic damage isn't enough to burst a charging Slardar down.

This pressure starts in the lane and only gets worse. Slardar will relentlessly hunt Gyrocopter, forcing him to play far back and miss farm. Once Slardar gets a Blink Dagger, any time Gyrocopter shows on the map becomes a potential pick-off. This forces Gyro's team to play defensively around him, often needing multiple save items and abilities to keep him alive in fights. Slardar's game plan is simple: find and delete Gyrocopter. In response, Gyrocopter's entire game becomes a struggle to survive long enough to contribute with Flak Cannon.
