Gyrocopter vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Believing you can overwhelm Techies with early aggression is a common trap. Gyrocopter relies on getting close for spell damage or standing his ground for Flak Cannon, but Techies denies both of these approaches. Proximity Mines make every inch of the map dangerous for a fragile hero with no escape. More importantly, a single Blast Off! silences Gyrocopter completely, shutting down his entire spell kit at the start of a fight and leaving him unable to contribute damage or use his ultimate, Call Down.

This dynamic makes farming and pushing incredibly risky for Gyrocopter all game. He can't safely approach creep waves or towers if Techies has had time to prepare the area. The main goal for the Gyrocopter player becomes rushing a Black King Bar to survive the initial silence, but by then Techies has often already established crippling map control. Techies simply needs to keep mining key pathways and save Blast Off! for when Gyrocopter commits to a fight.
