Hoodwink vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a kill on Hoodwink often comes down to who gets the first action. Lion has the ideal tools for the job: his instant Hex is one of the best ways to stop her from using Scurry to escape into the trees. If he can get on top of her with a Blink Dagger, she has very little time to react before his stuns and burst damage finish her off. On the other hand, Hoodwink is excellent at playing from the fog. A well-placed Bushwhack can leave Lion completely helpless, and her high damage can easily kill him before he can respond.

The matchup feels like a coin flip because it’s a constant battle of positioning and initiation. The Lion player is always scanning the treelines, looking for that brief window to jump in and delete Hoodwink. The Hoodwink player is doing the opposite, using her mobility to stay on the edge of fights, waiting for Lion to show himself so she can stun and burst him from a safe distance. Whichever hero gets the jump on the other usually wins the fight, leading to a very even exchange across the course of a game.
