Hoodwink vs Mars

How this matchup plays

Fighting inside an Arena of Blood is often where Hoodwink finds her opening. She can use Acorn Shot to create a tree right next to Mars, then immediately follow up with Bushwhack for a long stun. This turns his own ultimate into a cage for himself, allowing Hoodwink and her team to focus him down or simply letting her walk out. The extra movement speed and tree-walking from Scurry also make her an elusive target, making it much harder for Mars to land the Spear of Mars needed to pin her to the arena wall. She can often outmaneuver him and escape situations where other heroes would be trapped.

This doesn't mean Mars is helpless. His natural durability, especially with Bulwark, can allow him to survive Hoodwink's initial damage and turn the fight. A Mars who gets a clean initiation with Blink Dagger on a Hoodwink caught out of position can still delete her before she can react. The matchup revolves around positioning: Hoodwink wants to stay near trees to maintain her advantage, while Mars is constantly looking for an angle to land his combo away from her escape routes. If he can isolate her, he wins that fight.
