Hoodwink vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Getting caught out of position as Hoodwink is often a death sentence against a Shadow Shaman. His instant Hex is a perfect tool for locking her down, disabling Scurry's active escape and bypassing its passive evasion. Once she is disabled, it is very difficult for her to survive a follow-up Shackles, as she is quite fragile. While a quick Bushwhack might stun Shaman before he can act, his instant-cast disable usually gives him the first move in any direct encounter.

Hoodwink must therefore play a cautious game, leveraging her vision and mobility from the trees to engage from a safe distance. Her goal is to land a stun before Shadow Shaman even sees her. For his part, Shaman is always looking for a chance to close the distance, often with a Blink Dagger, to land his lockdown. The constant threat he provides can limit Hoodwink's ability to play aggressively, giving his team a small but meaningful amount of control over the map.
