Hoodwink vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Sniper is tough because he makes it so dangerous to play near the trees. Hoodwink needs to be close to a treeline to land a good Bushwhack, but Sniper's attack range lets him stand far away from those spots. To even try for a root, Hoodwink often has to run through open areas where Sniper can freely attack her. His Shrapnel can also give vision and slow her down, ruining any surprise attack. Scurry helps Hoodwink dodge some hits, but it doesn't change the fact that closing the distance on him is a huge risk.

This dynamic means a solo Hoodwink has a very hard time killing Sniper. She’s forced to rely on her teammates for initiation or wait for the Sniper to make a big positioning mistake. Meanwhile, Sniper can safely farm and hit his item timings, becoming a bigger problem as the game goes on. Hoodwink’s game is about getting pickoffs and creating pressure, and Sniper is one of the harder targets for her to do that against. She can still contribute in big teamfights, but her ability to dictate the pace of the game is limited.
