Hoodwink vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to play from the trees as Hoodwink becomes a liability against Spectre. The moment Spectre uses Haunt, Hoodwink's positional advantage is gone. An illusion appears right on top of her, providing vision and a target for Spectre to Reality to, no matter how deep in the woods she's hiding. Hoodwink's main escape, Scurry, isn't enough to get away from a hero who can instantly close the gap from anywhere on the map. Furthermore, Spectre's natural tankiness and damage reflection from Dispersion mean that even if Hoodwink lands a full combo, it won't be enough to secure a kill and will deal significant return damage.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Hoodwink might have a decent laning stage, but once Spectre gets her ultimate, the squirrel can never feel safe farming a side lane or scouting alone. In teamfights, Spectre can simply bypass the frontline and jump straight onto the backline Hoodwink, often killing her before she can contribute her stun or ultimate. For Hoodwink to have a chance, her team needs to apply immense pressure and end the game early. If the game goes late, Spectre's ability to hunt and eliminate Hoodwink becomes a reliable fight-winning tool.
