Hoodwink vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Fighting over the same patch of trees defines this matchup, but it rarely leads to a clear winner. One might assume it’s all about who lands their tree-based stun first, but the reality is that both heroes have the tools to spoil the other's setup. If Windranger looks for a Shackleshot, Hoodwink can use Scurry's phased movement to reposition and break the angle. On the other hand, Windranger's Windrun makes it very difficult for Hoodwink to commit with right-clicks and gives her the speed to simply walk out of a Bushwhack attempt. They each have a reliable escape for the other's primary plan.

Because a solo kill is so unreliable, this matchup becomes about who can have a bigger impact elsewhere. Hoodwink and Windranger will often ignore one another in teamfights, instead looking for easier targets to burst down. The outcome isn't decided by who wins the direct duel, but by which hero better enables their team with a key stun or long-range nuke on a more vulnerable support or core. It’s less of a direct counter-dynamic and more of a race to see who can apply their similar toolkit to the rest of the map more effectively.
