Invoker vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Choosing to play Invoker into Kunkka often means committing to a Quas Wex build. The main reason is that Tornado provides a clean dispel for X Marks the Spot, which neutralizes Kunkka’s primary setup for his Torrent and Ghostship combo. Beyond that, Cold Snap can repeatedly interrupt Kunkka’s cast animations, making it difficult for him to land his spells reliably even if he finds an opening. An Exort-focused Invoker lacks these tools and can struggle more, but the potential for this kind of disruption gives Invoker an overall edge.

This dynamic defines mid-game fights. A vigilant Invoker can hold his spells to break up the enemy's main game plan, turning Kunkka into a much less threatening hero who mostly just provides a buff and some area denial. For his part, Kunkka has to try to bait out the Tornado or catch a target when Invoker is out of position or his spells are on cooldown. With Ghost Walk available, Invoker himself is a slippery target, limiting Kunkka's ability to secure the solo kills he needs to get ahead.
